The genre of 'NME' magazine is Alternative, Florence and the Machine is on the cover of this issue and this fits with the magazine's genre. Florence Welch only takes up half of the frame but she is the main focus as this is the biggest picture on the cover. There are also other pictures on the cover that are at a smaller scale which could suggest that these artists are not as significant as Florence. There is a large stretch of text splitting the cover, bright colours are also used to catch the readers attention. Capital letters are also used to make the text sound more urgent. The magazine seems the be more tame unlike 'Q' there are no expilicit stories on the cover.
In addition, this could suggest that 'NME' could have a younger audience but still won't be aimed at children. The colour red has been used so the magazine appeals to both sexes. Also, Florence And The Machine has become quite mainstream so having her on the cover with attract a wider audience.
Florence's facial expression can suggest that she is serious about her career, her clothing is sequins which copuld show that she is wealthy and she has a necklace of flowers around her body which shows a feminine side to her. A medium longshot is used on the frame to show her outfit and her body to attract both genders.
