Research & Planning- Magazine Evaluation

I think that my college magazine fits the codes and conventions of a magazine. It has:
- A Masthead
- A Picture
- A Price
- The Issue Number

I think that the font sizes could have been smaller on the contents page, however if I was to continue this magazine and include stories, news and events there wouldn't be many pages so I would have to use a bigger font to fill the space. On the other hand, I could have used more pictures to give the audience a better insight of what the magazine includes.

I used the colours red, blue and yellow so i believe that I followed the three colour rule. I used primary colours which are bright and bold which will attract attention from the audience. I think that i should have used more yellow to add more variety. I also followed the same colour scheme on my contents page but i think that there is too much white space which isn't a code and convention of a college magazine.

I attempted to include exciting stories that would interest college students rather than focusing on the plain subjects that are sometimes always included in college magazines and they can be quite boring for students. For example, by including the new Costa section in the college it will something fresh and exciting for the students as it's new.

Research & Planning- College Magazine Analysis

I can tell that this is a college magazine as there is a student on the cover. Also some of the text says 'NYC's FRESHMAN FASHION CEO', this shows that the articles are about events in college. The masthead also says 'COLLEGE' which makes the genre of the magazine obvious.
The house style is very simple, it is only two colours- red and black. This could suggest that the editors of the magazine are trying to portray it as your average, simple college magazine. The codes and conventions of a magazine used on this cover eg. bar code, price and issue number.
The cover star of the magazine looks a happy and at ease and this could suggest that the college is also like this

This is my first time using In Design.
- I added margins and columns.
- I copied a film review off the internet.
- I added a picture to the document.
- I added a title and changed the colour of it.
- I changed the colour of the background.

Research & Planning- Photoshop Challenge

I opened up an A4 document on Photoshop by clicking on 'file' then 'new'. Then I added 'AS Media Studies' by clicking the text tool and then I changed the colour to red and then I centered it to the middle of the page and then I added a drop shadow. I then got a picture of  Marilyn Monroe off the internet and i changed her hair colour and then I added a background to her.

Research & Planning- Make-up Tutotrial

Today we used various tools on photoshop to get rid of blemishes, add eye shadow, lashes, blusher and lipstick and we also changed the hair colour. The healing brush tool gave her a better complexion and the eye shadow and eye lashes enhanced her eyes. I changed the hair colour to  a darker blonde however I went out if lines and some of the hair colour when onto the background.

Research & Planning- Introduction to Photoshop

I have limited knowledge of Photoshop, today I learned how to use the magic wand correctly when cutting out the horn and i also learned how to change the colour of pictures. I added text to my CD cover and i changed the font sizes of the words so that they a different from one another, I also changed the colour of the text.
